The Working Group for Restructuring the FCI (WGRF) met in Madrid on January 13, 2016 in order to address several matters in the frame of the modernisation of the FCI and with a view to make our Federation more pro-active. The meeting took place in a very open and friendly atmosphere and different important points were thoroughly discussed. The most important items covered were the role to be played by the FCI in terms of welfare for dogs, the efficiency and transparency of the Federation, the composition of the FCI Sections and the voting system. 37 federated members had answered the questionnaire that was sent to them in the course of December to express their views, comments and suggestions about the above topics. Interesting ideas were formulated and the Group has decided to hold a second meeting next April in order to finalise proposals which will be submitted to the next FCI General Assembly.
FCI President, Rafael de Santiago, said : "we now have the opportunity to radically change the FCI to meet the needs of the twenty-first century. I'm sure the final outcome of this working group will be great solutions that will serve the future of our sport".
